Wander through the Rolling Hills of Chianti.

Embark on a full day amidst the iconic scenery of the “gentle hills of Chianti,” traversing cypress-lined avenues, fields adorned with sunflowers, and medieval villages. Our journey includes a visit to the historical center of San Gimignano, renowned for its ancient towers.

During lunch, relish homemade pasta and savor six of the finest Chianti wines from our region at a typical Tuscan farmhouse. Also, taste five different extra virgin olive oils and three different balsamic vinegars.

Itinerary:

  1. Piazzale Michelangelo: Our first stop is Piazzale Michelangelo. This plaza, perched high above Florence, offers the most stunning panoramic views of the city, providing the perfect backdrop for capturing memorable photographs.

  2. Chianti Hills: Subsequently, we’ll navigate through the picturesque Chianti hills, passing olive groves, cypress groves, and vineyards.

  3. San Gimignano: Witness the majestic Towers of San Gimignano and explore the charming old town, delving into the history of the Twin Towers of the town. The city is celebrated for the Golden Ham and its renowned white wine, Vernaccia, crafted from the ancient Vernaccia Grape variety. In the narrow roads, you can admire the incredible work of artisans in their shops.

    • Ascend the highest tower, known as Torre Rognosa, visit the city museum, and revel in an incredible panorama.
    • In the main square, be sure to indulge in what’s touted as the best ‘ice cream in the world’ at Gelateria Dondoli, a two-time World Champion.
  4. Tuscan Farm: Later, we’ll journey to a traditional Tuscan biodynamic farm, family-run and famous for the genuineness of its products. Unravel the secrets of wine production and partake in a lunch featuring homemade pasta accompanied by tastings of six distinct wines. The location of the farm offers one of the most suggestive viewpoints opposite the wonderful San Gimignano Towers.

The return is scheduled for around 4:00 pm.

What To Expect:

Stop At: Piazzale Michelangelo

Our driver will pick you up at your location (hotel, B&B, or private apartment) and take you on a journey through the rolling hills of Tuscany. If you haven’t yet visited the most panoramic point of Florence, Piazza Michelangelo, it will be our first stop. Here, you can capture beautiful photos of Florence.

Michelangelo Plaza (Piazzale Michelangelo) is a square offering a panoramic view of Florence. Dedicated to the Renaissance sculptor Michelangelo, the square features bronze copies of some of his marble works found elsewhere in Florence, including the David and the four allegories of the Medici Chapel of San Lorenzo.

Stop At: San Gimignano

Following that, we will drive through the enchanting Chianti hills, meandering among olive groves, cypress trees, and vineyards, until we reach the medieval town of San Gimignano. The visit to the town and its magnificent towers will take approximately one hour.

San Gimignano is a small walled medieval hill town situated not far from Siena, renowned as the “Town of Fine Towers.” During the Middle Ages, there were more than 70 towers in the city, and today it stands as a real open-air museum, transporting you to the medieval period. The town is famous for saffron, the Golden Ham, and its white wine, “Vernaccia di San Gimignano.” Vernaccia is produced from the ancient variety of Vernaccia grape, cultivated on the sandstone hillsides of the area.

In the main square, be sure not to miss the opportunity to taste the best ‘ice cream in the world,’ and as you wander through the village streets, admire the extraordinary work of skilled craftsmen. If you wish, you can climb the Tower Museum (Torre Rognosa) to behold a magnificent view of the Tuscan hills.

Pass By: Chianti Wine-Road

After the free visit of San Gimignano, we will embark on one of the most beautiful “Tuscan Wine Roads.” Our journey will include a stop among the vineyards to capture some memorable photos. Subsequently, we will reach the winery-farm for a typical Tuscan lunch and an exceptional wine tasting experience.

Stop At: Family run winery-farm

We will then proceed to a typical Tuscan family-run organic farm for a visit and an authentic lunch, complemented by a tasting of 5 wines. This promises to be a beautiful Italian experience, providing insights into the best combinations of wine and food, the secrets of Italian cuisine, Tuscan winemaking techniques, and more.

Summary:

  • Tuscan Lunch: Indulge in a delightful Tuscan lunch featuring bruschetta, lasagna or homemade pasta, cured meats, hams, pecorino cheese, dessert, and more.

During Lunch:

  • Wine Tasting: Explore a variety of wines including Chianti, Chianti Riserva, Sangiovese, and Vernaccia.

After this sumptuous lunch, which will last approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, we will return to your location.
