Stop At: Fantiscritti Marble Quarry🏔️

Your English-speaking driver will pick you up at your hotel or apartment around 9:00 AM for a scenic drive to the Fantiscritti Marble Quarry.

As you ascend the Apuan Alps, you’ll pass the Bridges of Vara, three historic viaducts from the old Marble Railway, offering a glimpse of the region’s industrial past.

At Fantiscritti, a local guide will lead you through the quarry, one of the most famous in Carrara. You’ll learn about the history and techniques of marble extraction, including how Michelangelo sourced marble for his David. The tour will take you inside the quarry to explore the tunnels where marble is cut and moved, as well as to the top of the mountain, offering breathtaking views of the quarry and surrounding landscape.

You’ll also visit the Marble Museum within the quarry, which showcases the history of marble mining. This immersive 2-hour experience offers a deep insight into the legacy of Carrara marble, one of the world’s most iconic materials, used in art and architecture for centuries.
